10 Best All Inclusive Family Resorts in Mexico
The price of a family vacation doesn’t have to break the bank. In Mexico, all-inclusive resorts abound, and many of them offer very reasonable rates and promotions. We’ve chosen our favorites with amenities, accommodations and ratings in mind. Plus, our agents have personally visited these resorts, some with their children – we bet you’ll love them as much as we did.
1. Grand Velas Riviera Maya – Riviera Maya
Sign up for free snorkeling, kayaking and sailing trips as soon as you arrive at the Grand Velas Riviera Maya. When you find your stomach rumbling after a day of activities on the beach, head for one of the many onsite restaurants, each serving a different cuisine — you can have Spanish-inspired dishes for lunch and then Italian for dinner a few hours later. Enjoy nightly entertainment while children between ages 4 and 12 run off to their supervised programs. Little ones can learn Spanish and make balloon animals while tweens can rock out in Guitar Hero tournaments. Plus, there is 24-hour room service in your spacious 1,270-square-foot suite for those must have late-night snacks.
2. Beach Palace Cancun – Cancun
With nearly 50 of the resort’s 287 rooms dedicated as Family Suites, the Beach Palace Cancun is easily a great choice in Mexico. Now consider that 20 of those suites come with three hours of nanny service, and it becomes one of our favorites! The Beach Palace also features a kids’ club, complimentary shuttle service to the nearby water park, a teen disco, video game tournaments and special kids’ menus, not to mention the wide expanse of beach and the beautiful pool. What’s not to love.
3.The Royal Sands – Cancun
Families need space while on vacation and the rooms at The Royal Sands in Cancun will make your family feel like, well, royalty. Suites with full kitchens, separate bedrooms, two bathrooms and balconies are just the start of a luxurious, all-inclusive vacation. Kids will enjoy the daily program for 4- to 12-year-olds, and parents will like the state-of-the-art gym and spa. Children can decorate their own T-shirt, have their faces painted and then get wet in a water balloon war. Teens can play on the Xbox console, toss a volleyball around on the beach or try their luck in a Blackjack tournament. Relax on the beach or by one of the three pools and then wander over to one of the three onsite eateries, complete with Mariachi music and flamenco dancers. Plus, guests enjoy a shuttle bus and access to facilities at the other four Royal Resorts in Mexico, so you never get bored and the fun never stops!
4. Moon Palace Golf and Spa resort – Cancun
One of three connected properties, the Moon Palace connects to the Nizuc and Grand Moon resorts with shared programming, dining and amenities, meaning more bang for your buck when staying in Cancun. The resort features seven outdoor swimming pools, a kids’ club, a teens’ club, extra amenities for families, family suites with nanny service (like the sister Beach Palace Cancun property), kids’ menus and more – all right on the beach and within minutes of Cancun’s International Airport.
5. Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta
Hyatt entered the Mexican all-inclusive market with its new offering, the Hyatt Ziva in Puerto Vallarta, on the Pacific Coast. The property was originally a Dreams resort but Hyatt took over and invested millions to transform the resort. Opening in late 2014, the resort found its way onto our list after rave reviews about its services, programs, accommodations, dining and amenities. Kids will love the kids’, tweens and teen programming.
6. Azul Beach Hotel – Riviera Maya
AZUL Beach is one of the many Karisma Hotels and Resorts properties dotting the Mexican Riviera, but this one is our favorite. The smallest and quietest of the bunch, AZUL Beach feels like an oversized spa. Yet, it welcomes families. In 2015, the hotel launched its Nickelodeon Experience, which added special events, programming and themed fun for kids around Nickelodeon’s most popular characters. (Think Dora, Spongebob, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!) The resort also caters to all ages, with special in-room baby gear available for its youngest guests.
7. Iberostar Cancun
The IBEROSTAR collection of all-inclusive resorts in Mexico remain popular for families, and this year, the Iberostar Cancun tops the rankings, based on family reviews. Located just 15 minutes from the airport, the resort features seven swimming pools, a small water park for little ones, a kids’ club and a teen club, and a theater for nightly entertainment. Select from more than 400 rooms and villas, and dine in a handful of international-themed restaurants, and your family is sure to relax when visiting this Cancun property.
8. Hard Rock Hotel – Riviera Nayarit
On the Pacific Coast, just north of Puerto Vallarta, is a great family destination known as Riviera Nayarit. There, families will find the rock ‘n’ roll hotelier, in a fun, lively, all-inclusive environment right on the beach. The Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta is new to our list, but it has been open since 2012 and is an agency favorite. The resort is filled with music memorabilia, but like its beachfront counterparts, also provides oceanfront rooms, swimming pools, kids’ clubs and programming, numerous dining options, and a spa, of which an expansion is scheduled to take place this year.
9. Cozumel Palace
Enjoy the warm breeze from a hammock on your private balcony at this all-inclusive resort. Cozumel Palace is truly grand with luxurious accommodations and service beyond compare. A kids’ club for children ages 4 to 12 will keep the little ones busy during the day, followed by a family dinner at one of four onsite restaurants. Scuba diving is available on the property, and other water excursions, like swimming with dolphins and fun on the beach, are located just 15 minutes from the resort in nearby San Miguel. Other fun family activities at Cozumel Palace include salsa lessons, napkin folding classes and bingo.
10. Club Med Yucatan
One of the first names in family-friendly, all-inclusive fun, Club Med Cancun Yucatan, expanded in 2014. It now offers 60 oceanfront Family Suites, a playground, Petite Club Med for 2- and 3-year-olds, a new lounge for nightly entertainment and a reservation-only restaurant. The resort also features “GOs,” (Gracious Organizers) who act similar to luxury camp counsellors, organizing special activities and making guests feel welcome. Let’s not forget the flying trapeze either – a unique opportunity included in rates.
